How to Afford a Bishop Walsh Education
Investing in a Catholic Education at Bishop Walsh School is a major financial decision and investment for parents and guardians. Many parents need to seek ways to afford the financing of a catholic school education. Bishop Walsh School has spent many years developing financial aid resources for our families. Families are encouraged to investigate these resources and options.
A financial investment in a Bishop Walsh School education has proven to be a remarkable investment as our seniors have generally garnered over $2,000,000 each year in college scholarships to prestigious and diverse colleges across the country.
We hope you find the following tuition/fees and financial assistance helpful. For further explanation call Mrs. Shelby Webb at 301-724-5360, ext. 104.
Financial information: Tuition /Fees/ Family Plan
April 2012
The budget for the 2012-2013 school year has been approved. There will be a slight increase in tuition cost for the next school year. We are aware of the struggling economy and want to do all we can to help our families at this time. Your family is very important to us and to the community. Your investment in Bishop Walsh is gratefully appreciated thus the budget was built with you in mind.
We will continue the F.A.C.E. fee next year. This fee was implemented to supplement major school fundraisers. There will be an increase in this fee of $25 per student, making the new F.A.C.E. fee $375. By using the F.A.C.E. program, families can defer this cost from their tuition bill. We are now looking at ways through our FACE program to help lower this fee for families for the 2013-2014 school year. We will be collecting data from the program and providing extra incentives to encourage participation in this program.
Scholarship Aid
By now, all scholarship/aid applications to FACTS Tuition Assistance Program should be in to the company. Families anticipating aid from Bishop Walsh must apply each year. All payment plans must be negotiated each year. Due to the increasing numbers of families applying for aid, only those qualifying through the FACTS Tuition Assistance Program will be eligible to receive scholarship aid. Participation in the FACE program is mandatory to receive aid from BW.

Book Fee Statement
High School Books
High School students are responsible for the purchase of their own books. They may purchase used books from the bookstore or new books from an on-line service. These books become the property of the student. In regard to the books supplied by the MSDE, the books are not paid for by the student and become the property of the school at the end of the school year. Failure to return state-owned books results in full payment of the book to the school as directed by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Middle School Books
Middle School students pay a rental fee that includes art supplies, other supplies, scholastic magazines, standardized testing fees, and the use of textbooks and workbooks. The total cost of these books and fees is $190. The $40 deduction sponsored by the MSDE and the $40 subsidy provided by Bishop Walsh enables us to reduce the cost to $150. This allows us to receive new books without further charge to the parent. If we did not receive this funding from the state, parents would face a much larger bill for middle school books.
NOTE: Eighth grade students enrolled in high school courses must purchase the books used for these courses either used or on-line as the high school students do.
Elementary School Books
Elementary level students pay a rental fee that includes the use of textbooks, workbooks, standardized tests, and Archdiocese of Baltimore fees. The total cost of these books is $190. The $40 deduction sponsored by the MSDE enables us to reduce the cost to $150. This allows us to receive new books without further charge to the parent. If we did not receive this funding from the state, parents would face a much larger bill for elementary level books.
The “Facts” About FACTS Tuition Collection Plan
- FACTS Tuition Management collects tuition. Payments are withdrawn automatically from your Bank Checking or Savings account.
- Parents will receive an invoice from Bishop Walsh in July. The invoice will have all charges itemized, with any financial assistance from the school and parishes deducted. The balance will be divided into 12 equal payments, July through June. The exception to this is the senior class, whose tuition must be paid in full by April 30, 2013.
- FACTS will be provided with your balance, along with your renewal agreement. Previous contracts do not require your signature. New contracts require your signature. Automatic withdrawals will be made on the 5th or the 20th of each month.
- Bingo and FACE credits will be deducted monthly and the Business Office will provide FACTS with the adjustment in April, which will lessen your last payment for grades K through 12.
- Neither Bishop Walsh nor FACTS has access to the privacy of your bank account.
