NEW YEAR PROVIDES NEW ACTIVITIES AND EXCITEMENT FOR THE BISHOP WALSH SCHOOL COMMUNITY
We just experienced the Christmas season and my hope is that families had an opportunity to reconnect. The students of Bishop Walsh School have greeted the New Year with much enthusiasm.
Gym make-over
Over the Christmas break many basketball coaches and parents, and students gathered to refinish the gym floor. Collectively, over 350 hours of labor was completed in the completion of this task. I greatly appreciate the coordination by Mr. Marty Mathews who took charge over this endeavor. All of our students have enjoyed the new finish and it looks great. The gym is now at its busiest time of the year. Basketball games and practices dominate the use from grades six
through 12. Take a look at the schedule and come out to cheer for our student-athletes.
March in DC
The annual March for Life is approaching on Jan. 22. Bishop Walsh School continues to send the message that life in its earliest existence is precious and we need to speak for the unborn. Our students travel with a group from Allegany Right to Life. The Knights of Columbus continues to be gracious and helps defray the cost of the journey.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week will be here at the end of January. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools Light the Way.” We will have a weeklong slate of celebratory activities. Please check our website and page 4 in this newsletter for the most recent information and schedule for the of week, Jan. 27 through Feb. 1.
Grateful for all
As the new year unfolds, I want to take this time to thank all of our parents, guardians, and friends who continue to make the sacrifice to allow their children to receive this valuable experience we call Bishop Walsh School. In the same spirit, I give thanks to the teachers, coaches, and moderators who give of their time to contribute to the total experience for our students here at Bishop Walsh.
